Triumph 6T Thunderbird 650cc 1958
Black, non-standard pre-unit model, 650 twin.
Larger 21 inch front wheel with TLS brake, knobbly tyres, twin high level pipes with short cans that remove the ear bleeding hack of open pipes and give it a nice roarty sound - still loud but that's the way I like it.
A rare 4 plug head (four spark plugs) this was a mod done back in the cafe-racer days, there is no real evidence that it make it faster or runs better, but it seems to start and run very well, so that's good enough for me.
This is the Alternator model, so you have a decent charge rate, although it stll runs on the magneto so there is no need for battery to get you home. In my view this is the best combination of the pre-unit model.
New swing arm pin and bushes which were a right bastard to do, so you don't have to worry about them now.
The Slick-Shift gearbox works well, and means you can forget about the clutch lever if you want to hold an ice cream whilst riding...
One of my personal bikes that I've used to mooch about on. Lovely bike, but it's time for it to go.
Looks a bit like a bike Steve McQueen used to ride - see photo.
